Serving Guatemala

Partners in Solidarity (Partners) is the international computer placement of NextStep Recycling, a 501 c 3 non-profit organization based out of Eugene, Oregon. NextStep Recycling collects, refurbishes, and recycles computers and any other electronic products. The Partners program is NextStep’s international program. It’s major project is in the highland department of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. Computers are collected, refurbished, and loaded with Spanish and Mayan language software and education programs.

In Guatemala, Partners in Solidarity works directly with our Guatemalan project partner and non-governement organization(NGO) INEPAS. INEPAS has over 15 years experience working in social and education projects throughout the department of Quetzaltenango. INEPAS has worked with us since 2002 and has transformed the computer labs project into an extraordinary example of community work and involvement. Each lab is “owned” by the community and each community has created its own maintenance and security committees to protect and care for the labs.
